PEZ Peppermint

We are happy and proud to present a true classic of enamel advertising: the PEZ Peppermint sign, featuring the unforgettable face of Gerda Jahn. As a teenager she smiled down from billboards, later became a hairdresser, and today is a senior model in Vienna. Dressed in her striking blue uniform and cap, designed by Gerhard Brause, she became the face of PEZ in the postwar years.
Introduced in Vienna in the 1920s, PEZ was marketed as a modern, stylish alternative to smoking – a breath-freshening treat that fit perfectly into daily life. The sleek little tablets were packed in elegant pocket-sized tins. Later Pez became known for its playful dispensers.
The sign is in overall good condition. Its vibrant colors and original gloss remain intact. There are a few small touch-ups near the bottom edge, which are clearly visible in the images. The surface shows some light scratches.
Produced by Boos & Hahn (Pyro-Email), Ortenberg/Baden, Germany, this authentic sign ranks among the most sought-after enamel advertisements in Austria and Germany. Good to know is that PEZ signs always fetched absolute price records whenever one made it to auction.
If you were ever dreaming of owning an original, non-restored PEZ Peppermint sign for a very reasonable price … this is your chance to get your hands on one !
