CHOCMEL-Kohler, Chocolat au Lait

One could travel to the MoMa in New York to see this stunning design by Charles Kuhn (CH, 1903-1999), or just come visit us here in Antwerp/Belgium. This 1930’s Art Deco masterpiece, designed by Charles Kuhn for the Swiss Chocmel/Kohler chocolate brand shows the silhouette of an elegant lady with her gaze averted gracefully, almost as if she does not want to divert attention from the product, although the warm yellow background color is so vivid ! With its striking and elegant design, this attractive advertisement is a masterpiece from the early days of Swiss poster design. The work is part of a small series of 5 different signs from the same period with identical size, all for different Swiss chocolate brands, all designed by different artists : Karl Bickel, Charles Kuhn, Carl Moos, Emil Cardinaux and Leonetto Cappiello.
