This is a very rare version for Suchards’ “Velma” brand, depicting a boy eating chocolate. By the look on his face it tastes super delicious. The preservation is almost flawless. The surface is in excellent condition, and the colors are remarkably vivid. The sign has small enameling flaws. Considering it was produced around 1910, you can say it’s truly a remarkable piece. Nice to know is that this particular sign was part of Andreas Maurers’ collection that was sold at Christies Amsterdam in 1996. In the sales catalogue you’ll find the sign as lot n° 111 on page 62. The sign has been in private collection ever since that date, today 29 years ago.
