SPA CITRON, Citron et eau de Spa

A stylish young woman wearing a ‘lemon’ skirt squeezing lemon juice directly into a bottle of Spa water. What a clever and beautiful way of telling the story of the product! The 1930’s Spa Citron enamel signs, without any doubt, belong to the most wanted signs in antique enamel advertising. They were produced in Brussels in both the Emaillerie Belge (in 1935) and the Emailleries de Koekelberg, where this one was produced in 1936. It was already an absolute highlight at Christies Amsterdam Andreas Maurer sale (lot.229) in 1996, and today the lovely lady is even more appreciated in the collectors’ scene. This piece is in superb condition, scratchfree, with a remarkable gloss and original colors. Together with the Spa Monopole the sign was in private hands for many years.
