F.L. CAILLER’s – Chocolat au Lait

Take a closer look! This beautiful piece, in Art Deco style, is considered one of the top exclusive antique enamel advertising signs. In Switzerland and Germany, it is known as the “Bübchen-und-Mädchen-Cailler” (the little boy and girl). The design is by Karl Bickel, a Swiss artist and graphic designer, active during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Bickel, along with other prominent artists like Emil Cardinaux and Leonetto Cappiello, played a significant role in shaping the visual identity of early Swiss chocolate brands. Bickel also designed for this other Swiss chocolate brand, Nestlé. This is the large version. Notice the clean graphic lines, the vibrant color scheme and stylized depictions of a girl and a boy enjoying chocolate. We can say that Bickel created an iconic design, a masterpiece which has become a highly sought-after collectible. Whether you’re a true collector or simply looking for a sign to decorate your home, you cannot miss this one!
