CHOCOLAT PUPIER
Who can resist the charm of Jean d’Ylen’s funny little harlequin? He is casting a nervous glance over his shoulder before taking a second bite of that delightfull piece of French chocolate —blissfully unaware that nothing warns him of an impending chocolate meltdown, since this is the rare version without the thermometer.
The same playfull harlequin character was also used for an earlier design, resulting in a wonderfull poster. In this composition, the harlequin has intentionally tipped the crate of chocolates, eager to assess the full extent of his chocolate feast. The design beautifully illustrates d’Ylen’s gift for infusing humor, motion, and theatrical flair into even the simplest scenes.
Pupier, still producing chocolate in Saint-Étienne and incorporated into the Cemoi group in 1981, remains a respected name in French confectionery.
This piece should not be missing from any chocolate lover’s collection.
